Project Spotlight: Brand Identity Design For Interior Design

In the world of Instagram and Pinterest, interior design seems to be everywhere inspiring the masses to update their spaces. And while there are plenty of DIYers out there, interior design remains a luxury service for which a number of consumers still hire. Anny Ruth — an Interiors Studio came to Holbrook for brand design services. We helped with naming, brand DNA, brand color palettes, typography, logo design, brand patterns, messaging and copy tone to support their business launch efforts.

Taking a nod from architectural drawing title blocks, we created a word mark primary logo that lends itself to both black and white as well as the brand color palette. Focusing on creating prominence of the founder’s first name as well as typographic alignment, it presents a clean and straight forward visual that can be softened by brand color application.

The interiors studio is located in the southwest region of the United States. Inspired by that, we created a color palette that nods to the earthy tones of the surrounding areas while still maintaining sophistication and distinction.

Strong brand identity design lends requires logo variation. A singular logo cannot and should not be used in all circumstances. The key is to maintain the visual feel of the brand even when the logo varies.

One of our favorite parts of developing brand identity for clients is the creation of patterns for supplemental use. The options are limitless in how brand patterns can be used but we often place them as backgrounds, printed for utilization in packaging design for products, and more. Much like secondary logo marks, brand patterns should clearly family with the rest of the brand identity work. In this case we used the letter forms used in the primary logo to create several patterns that could be mistaken for wallpaper and tile as well as those with a nod to the southwestern ties of the brand and the migratory nature of its founder.

Developing typographic sample layout helps to guide the brand in how and where a brand should be using its selected typography. Using placeholder text, we illustrate how the varying typographical choices should be utilized in any manner of brand and marketing assets — social media posts, blog posts, website copy, advertising and more.

Using the brand DNA and the customer persona we created, we developed key messages to be repeated throughout copy as well as copy tone guidelines for writing longer-form text for the brand..

With a complete brand strategy and identity guideline and all associated assets in a variety of file types, Anny Ruth — an Interiors Studio was ready for launch. Taking their complete branding package, they could implement with their chosen web designer, build their social media assets, and navigate in the market with confidence and consistency.
